self-review of our last two shows

So the show at the crepe place was freakin awesome.
It could of been the best show we've ever played besides that house party we played on laurel st. at the zami house. We played a 40 minute set, and decided to not play "frail". We opened with our new punk version of "Nonsense" and looped that song and "Song For The Girl" together. People seemed shocked by that, because we're trying to catch you off guard. The crowd was a little self-conscious but i could see their feet tapping and their heads bobbing. It was weird playing across the street from a band i don't like called "Rilo Kiley". Despite having such an overly-hyped indie bullshit pop band playing across the street we still managed to have a sweet little crowd at the crepe place. We played our new song called "White Wolf Eyes" for the first time and although we played it uber fast and managed to pull it off.

The metamusic show was somewhat of a disaster and i hate it when people tell me it was good because it wasn't. I dropped my pick a couple times, cut my finger open, guitar came unplugged twice, and we sped up a lot. We didn't have our keyboardist Sam Copperman that night (because he was playing bass in the peter pan musical down the street at louden nelson) and that added to the show's awkwardness. It was pretty shitty, because i was hoping to impress our bff band mountain animal hospital and i think we blew it. We got a show at the college in monterrey on tuesday and hopefully we'll make up for our shitty show.

Lately i've been diggin' these albums:

I was thinking that we should cover "Lean Woman Blues".

anton is my hero

dig this shit

Cease To Exist

Well i accidentally deleted this blogpost right as i was about to post it so I'm pretty irritable at the moment. Last night was great at the tannery for the Mountain Animal Hospital cd release! Sleepy Sun blew my mind and so did M.A.H. but it really is a fucking shame that they booted everyone out of the tannery. Truly a shame for the M.A.H. boys and it really ticked me off how sour the show went. They sounded great though. On a lighter note we have a show with this band from Los Angeles called INDIAN JEWELRY this coming wednesday at the CREPE PLACE APRIL 23rd 9PM.
I don't know how i feel about this band in their obscurity.
Obscure bands take it too far sometimes and at a certain point of insane obscurity to me it just starts to sound like shit in my ears.
But i'm still very excited for the show.
you let me know what you think of this band:

i am going to post lyrics of a new song next time.
But for now i hope everyone is doing well on this fine sunday afternoon.

shows

a ton of our shows were cancelled or tba.
no more santa clara university show.
crepe place show confirmed.
ucsc show with james rabbit confirmed.
starry plough show questionable.
no barack obama rally.
too long of a drive to play in a parking lot.
we are working on a new song.
i think it is going to be called "white wolf eyes"
good shit really clanky rhythm that turns into a double time chorus.
idk i think we may have to edit that part.
but we will be playing the Fort Gallery on june 21st with some bands who we haven't gotten to play with us yet.
that place used to be in sf but it is moving to oakland in early may.
here is a video our friends Man/Miracle playing there when it was in san francisco.

last night's practice

We had a practice last night, and i think it went pretty good. We hadn't played together since the show/recording so i expected it to be super rough. It was pretty damn good for our first real practice since coming back. Sam sounded good on the keys despite the fact we don't the same sounds on the Micro Korg as on the recordings. Adam told me he is working on getting us this module that has the Farfisa sound we really want for our live show. We have a ton of shows booked now. One is in Fresno, California and it is a Barack Obama peace rally April 19th in the Tower District area. Not sure if we are actually going to do it because it is so far but im pretty excited about how many we have. Next we have a show in Berkeley May 16th at this place called The Starry Plough w/ The Botticellis. It will be savage.
here is a photograph of the inside of the Irish pub:

We are also playing May 23rd at the Bronco at Santa Clara University w/ The which pretty close to San Jose. My friend John told me the stage is radical, and i trust his judgement (kind of hahaha).
That weekend is going to be insane because the next night may 24th we are playing the crepe place with the Botticellis. Adam helped us get the berkeley and crepe place show. Then on Monday night May 26th we are playing the UCSC Soundbox with one of our BFF Bands James Rabbit and some touring bands. After that we are trying to get more shows. I am setting up a show at the Fort Gallery in Oakland on June 21st. I am going to try and get either Comets on Fire or Howlin Rain to play. I love those bands! I'm sure they'd be down, because the brand new Fort Gallery in Oakland (it moved from San Francisco) it a much larger space. After that we have a show at Pergolesi on June 28th with The Attachments. And i'm also going to try and set up a show for Tempo No Tempo at either Metamusic or Pergolesi on June 6th. In short there are going to be a lot more show. BUSY TIMES! We also are working on a new song right now. It is called White Wolf Eyes.

a list

At school one day i was so bored in marketing i made a list of great albums that i needed to download. If you don't have any of these then you should check them out.
Today sucked.
I blew it with not having my phone charged and we didn't get to practice. Now everyone in the band hates my guts (nothing out of the ordinary).
Tonight I'm going to write a new amazing song i can feel it.
It's because I am sick and mildly irritable and heavily depressed.
One of those ramblin' all by yourself days.
Here is the list of music i made of stuff i totally need to download:
the kills-midnight boom
the raconteurs-consoleurs of the lonely
Man Man-Rabbit Habits
The Black Keys-Attack & Release
Lupe Fiasco-The Cool
Cat Power-Jukebox
Cursive-The Ugly Organ
Rilo Kiley-The Execution of All Things
Howlin Rain-Magnificent Fiend
Panda Bear-Person Pitch
Gnarls Barkley-The Odd Couple
Dead Meadow-Old Growth
Beach House-Devotion
Tapes N' Tapes-Walk It Off
Be Your Own Pet-Get Awkward
Hot Chip-Made in the Dark
Grizzly Bear-Yellow House

here is the show our song is going to be on

CANTERBURY'S LAW
TUNE IN
APRIL 11TH 9PM
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

http://www.fox.com/canterburyslaw/

our song "swagger" is going to be on TV

Our song "Swagger" has been picked to be placed in a new law drama series on FOX. The show is called "Canterbury's Law" and the main actress is Juliana Margolis from ER. The people who work for sony pictures television have told me that the show should air on FOX on Friday, April 11th at 9pm. Tune in for the show and look out for our song. We know that they have edited the scene in which it appears in to our song which is rad. Also the song is going to be played for a total of 1:32 which is a long amount of time in the show. Very excited, and this is the biggest shot we've ever gotten besides our pitchfork nod.
Much love and watch the show and listen for our song!
I believe it will be on channel 3 in Santa Cruz.
